Deloitte, Singularity University & Council on Competitiveness Release Breakthrough Study on Exponential Technologies in Manufacturing

CEO of NanoMech Jim Phillips is featured in a study released today on exponential technology and innovation published by Silicon Valley Think Tank Singularity University, international consulting firm Deloitte, and the U.S. Council on Competitiveness. Phillips was one of several top Global executives sought out to comment and provide expert opinion in this publication on transformative manufacturing utilizing exponential technology of the 21st Century.

The study was conducted to communicate the importance of talent and innovation in the constantly-changing world of manufacturing. Senior leaders at Deloitte interviewed more than two dozen senior executives and subject matter experts at some of the world’s largest manufacturing organizations, Singularity University, and several leading technology start-ups.

According to the publication, “the Exponential Technologies in Manufacturing study explores how exponential technologies are transforming the future of manufacturing to highlight opportunities to embrace exponentials to drive future competitive advantage.”

Advanced Materials Technology

In the section of the publication titled Exponential Manufacturing Technologies: A Deep Dive, a report on “advanced materials” explored the market growth of materials created with exponential technologies, their current and future applications, and challenges and potential issues facing the industry.

In his response to the study, Phillips commented on the rapid growth and dynamic nature of the nanotechnology industry, NanoMech’s position as innovators in the field of nanomanufacturing, and challenges facing the United States’ nanoengineering landscape such as foreign competition and a shrinking STEM workforce.

“Nanomanufacturers are using nanoscale (one billionth of a meter) materials to produce next-generation products that are stronger, lighter-weight, safer, more durable, and more reliable,” Phillips explained in the study. “Nanomanufacturing represents the best of sustainable practices because it finds ways to exponentialize materials, reduce waste, reuse elements, and recycle materials—always considering how to make less…more!”

The report concludes that innovation enabled by exponential technologies helps manufacturers grow faster, be more agile, and unlock new forms of value!
